AIOMEGA Launches Digital Prescription Platform for Oral

AIOMEGA has launched a new digital prescription platform called AIO-Rx SMART-Rx. The system is designed to provide a structured clinical workflow for sleep medicine professionals prescribing custom oral appliances for sleep apnea.
According to the company, the platform offers a fully digital pathway. It supports the evaluation, prescription, and management of its oral appliances for both adult and pediatric patients. The system is clinician-directed and aims to ensure fabrication accuracy while leaving all diagnostic and therapeutic decisions in the hands of the healthcare provider.
How the Platform Works
The clinical guidance system consists of two main tools: SMART-Rx and AIO-Rx. SMART-Rx provides a structured framework for organizing and interpreting airway-related findings. It is built on the engineered biomechanics of AIOMEGA's device family.
The framework incorporates multiple assessment factors. These include resting jaw positions, voluntary mouth opening, dentition, mandibular range of motion, and observations from cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) scans. Clinical history and patient tolerance are also considered.
AIO-Rx then provides first-order prescription guidance. It converts the SMART-Rx assessment into a prescription-ready mandibular position. This position is aligned with the specific geometry of the oral appliance.
The Prescription and Fabrication Process
During the records and prescription phase, clinicians submit necessary information for device fabrication. This may include intraoral impressions or digital scans, a bite registration, and vertical dimension specifications. Clinicians can also add any special instructions.
Clinicians prescribe specific device parameters. These form the foundation of the digital model used for fabrication. The prescribed parameters include the thickness of the tooth-covering portion and the height and geometry of the mandibular plateau.
The company emphasizes that the system is a tool to complement professional judgment. It is not designed to diagnose, predict outcomes, or automate treatment decisions. All diagnostic interpretation and therapeutic decisions remain under the full authority of the clinician.
Pediatric and Adult Applications
The platform uses a growth-responsive workflow that adapts to different craniofacial development stages. This is intended for pediatric patients between the ages of 6 and 17. For patients 18 and older, the platform maintains a unified system.
AIOMEGA was founded by Raghavendra V. Ghuge, MD, DABSM, FAASM, MBA. Ghuge is an adult and pediatric sleep physician with over two decades of clinical experience. The company states he combines medical training with engineering-driven device development to create these clinician-directed digital workflows.
The release highlights the ongoing integration of digital tools into sleep apnea therapy management. The platform seeks to simplify the complex process of prescribing custom oral appliances.
