Samsung Health Sleep Coaching Starts with Three Days of Data
Samsung Health now requires only three days of recent sleep data to begin its personalized Sleep Coaching program, a significant reduction from the previous seven-day requirement.

Samsung Health has lowered the data barrier for starting its Sleep Coaching program. Users can now initiate the feature with just three days of sleep data collected within the past two weeks, down from a previous requirement of seven days over a month.
Previously, users needed to compile a full week of sleep data over one month to begin. The updated system makes personalized sleep guidance more immediately accessible. The program uses this data alongside a user survey to build a tailored plan.
Personalized Sleep Animal and Adaptive Coaching
To start Sleep Coaching, users complete a survey. It covers sleep regularity, nighttime awakenings, alcohol and caffeine consumption, and personal sleep satisfaction. Samsung Health combines these questionnaire responses with the three days of sleep data to assign a personalized Sleep Animal symbol.
The coaching program itself is a tailored four- to eight-week plan. It includes daily habit checklists and sleep tips informed by behavioral sleep science principles. These encourage habits like reducing screen exposure before bedtime, avoiding late-day caffeine, and stretching outdoors after waking. The program adjusts its weekly recommendations as users' sleep patterns and lifestyles change, evolving with more collected data.
Enhanced Insights and Device Integration
Morning insight messages, which summarize the previous night's sleep, are now more closely tied to weekly and final reports. Sleep analysis also includes a new pentagon-shaped Sleep Balance graph. This visual brings together five key indicators:
The Energy Score requires synchronization of health data from a Samsung Galaxy Watch or Galaxy Ring with the Samsung Health App and is for personal reference only. The upgraded features will begin rolling out through Samsung Health app updates in October 2026, with availability introduced progressively.
Availability requires the Samsung Health App version 6.24 or above paired with Samsung Galaxy smartphones running Android OS 11 and above. Supported wearable devices include the Galaxy Watch 4 series and later models, the Samsung Galaxy Fit3 and later, and the Samsung Galaxy Ring. Some features may be supported through future software updates, with exact availability varying by market and device model.
Broader Context: Running Coach and Strava Updates
While Sleep Coaching is the focus, Samsung Health is also upgrading its fitness tools. The Running Coach training tiers have expanded from 10 to 12 levels to better support intermediate and advanced runners. It now includes enhanced social media sharing features, allowing workout data to be exported into share-ready templates for leading platforms.
A partnership with Strava enables users to import favorite Strava Routes for running, trail running, and cycling directly into Samsung Health. Strava is available worldwide except in Belarus, China, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, Russia, parts of Ukraine, and South Korea. Running Coach requires an Android phone with Android 10 or above, the Samsung Health app v6.30.2 or above, a Samsung account, and is available only with the Galaxy Watch 8 Series or later models.
